About Us

• 1998: West Chatham Middle School was established to address the educational needs of the growing population in Pooler, Georgia. The school was part of an effort by the Chatham County School District to accommodate increasing student numbers in the area.

• 2000s: West Chatham Middle School continued to grow, reflecting the rapid development of the Pooler area. The early 2000s saw further upgrades, including technology enhancements and improvements to sports and extracurricular facilities.

• 2006: A major renovation project was completed, which included modernizing the school’s infrastructure and upgrading the technology used in classrooms. This was part of a broader initiative to improve educational facilities across the Chatham County School District.

• 2006: The school implemented a new ESOL program to help students whose first language is not English improve their English language skills. The program focused on educating students to communicate effectively and improve their reading and writing skills.

• 2016: Another significant upgrade was completed, focusing on expanding and modernizing the library and media center to support student learning and research.

• 2020: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, West Chatham Middle School adapted quickly to remote and hybrid learning models, ensuring that students continued to receive a high-quality education despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.

• 2024:  The ESOL program concluded, and the students were reassigned to their designated schools based on their residential zones.
