Cell Phone Policy

Please be aware that Georgia law and SCCPSS Board Regulation JCDAF-R(1) prohibit cell phone use during the school day.

West Chatham Middle School is committed to maintaining a focused learning environment for all students. To comply with state law and district policy, students must follow the cell phone procedures outlined below.

Cell Phone Storage Requirements

All cell phones must:

• Be powered off during the school day.
• Be placed in the classroom locking device box.
• Always remain stored in the locking device box during the school day.

What Can Be Stored?

The locking device box is designed to hold cell phones only.

Items That Cannot Be Stored

The following items cannot be brought to school for storage in the locking device box:

• Smartwatches
• Wireless earbuds or headphones
• Eyeglasses or other personal items

Non-Compliance Consequences

Any device that is:

• Seen
• Heard
• Used

will be confiscated and held until the end of the school day.

Progressive Discipline

Repeated violations of the cell phone policy will result in progressive disciplinary consequences in accordance with the SCCPSS Code of Conduct.
